Water for Injection Generation and Storage System for an Egyptian Pharmaceutical Company
- Project Country: Egypt
- Completion year: 2025
- Capacity: 2t/h
The client, a sterile injectable company from Cairo, Egypt, produces large-volume parenterals (LVPs) and small-volume parenterals (SVPs). The newly-built sterile production floor needed dedicated water for injection (WFI) system, with high requirements for water purity and stable system operation.
- Water for injection generation: multiple-effect distillation, 2 t/h (with purified water used for source water)
- Water for injection storage tank: 316L stainless steel, 3,000 L working capacity, with continuous recirculation for temperature maintenance
- The stainless steel distribution loop covering the entire factory; each point of use can draw water independently.
- The PLC control system supports remote real-time monitoring of key parameters such as temperature, conductivity, and return flow velocity.
The multiple-effect still uses enhanced heat transfer design to help ensure long-term continuous reliable operation; the distribution system temperature is maintained above 80℃ to prevent microbial growth; the storage tank and piping layout is designed to ensure that water temperatures and water quality parameters at each point of use remain within the design limits; the intuitive user interface can be proficiently operated on after short-term training.
- The water quality meets the requirements of sterile injectables, with water quality parameters maintained within the design limits at each point of use.
- The water for injection system passed acceptance testing on first attempt and has been in stable operation for a year during which no unplanned shutdowns occurred.
- The client’s team can proficiently operate the water for injection system proficiently after short-term training.
